North Beach Restaurant

It was a rainy day. My friend and I decided to check out San Francisco’s Little Italy. We used the hop-on hop-off bus. This service can be great, but the couple times I’ve used it, I tend to hop off at a particular location never to catch it again and end up wandering on foot.

We hopped off at Little Italy and the North Beach Restaurant was a block away on Stockton Street. It looked nice and they were just getting ready for the day. Let’s have lunch! The restaurant serves traditional Tuscan food and housemade Vino. They have an award-winning wine cellar at the back of the restaurant.

We ordered a couple Bellinis and some warm bread was served. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar were delicious! We seriously kept ordering more bread so we could keep soaking up the goodness.

I ordered the Linguine with Porcini & Scallops. The pasta was cooked just right and the sauce was simple and flavorful. Good stuff.

We finished our lunch and wandered a bit. We stopped at a candy store nearby.

After walking around Little Italy for a bit, we actually caught the hop bus again and made our way back to the hotel. There are definitely some good restaurants worth checking out in this neighborhood.

I ended up coming back to this area another day. I saw The Beat Museum. I looked around the small vintage music store a bit before paying a small fee and checking out the museum towards the back of the store.

The Beat Museum

It contains memorabilia and pop culture artifacts from the Beat Generation. I was not familiar with The Beat Generation and found out that it focuses on a group of authors whose literature influenced American culture in the post-World War II era. Most of their work was published and popularized throughout the 1950s. It was really cool.
