Zeppelin Hall Beer Garden

I haven’t been to the Zeppelin Hall Beer Garden in a long time and since they were presenting “Belgium Comes to Jersey City” for most of November, it was the perfect time to return! I had a wonderful time in Belgium and I really missed the beer and food. A couple of friends came back from Belgium recently and wanted to check it out too. Off we went!

They always seem to have a solid beer selection and it’s always nice to see a large selection of Belgian and Belgian Style Beer. I went with a Saison and my friends tried a Fruli Strawberry Belgian white beer. Cheers!

They didn’t have a BBQ menu the last time I was here, but it sounded good. I wanted to try it, but I had to order one of my favorite items on the menu first.

You have to try their Giant Pretzel! Their pretzels are imported from Munich, Germany. The pretzel is warm, soft, and glazed with just the right amount of butter and salt. It’s served with spicy brown mustard, sweet Bavarian mustard, and their homemade Obatzda cheese. They have an order of regular sized pretzels available too, but they’re just not the same.

They offered a variety of Moules Frites (mussels and fries) for the Belgian Fest. My friends tried a garlic and white wine one, and a spicier version with Andouille sausage. They were delicious and served with warm crusty bread to soak up all the savory broth.

After a few more beers, it was time to try that BBQ. I went with the smoked beef brisket platter that was served with fries, crispy onions, pickled onions, and rye bread. I also ordered a side of their mac and cheese. The brisket was nothing special. Mac and cheese was bland and too heavy. I’d skip the BBQ and stick to their tasty pretzels and specialties.

We had to try a dessert and that meant Belgian waffles! They were topped with whipped cream, strawberries, chocolate syrup, and powdered sugar. Oh, and extra whipped cream on the side.

It was another great night at the Beer Garden. I need to come here more often. It’s location near the Jersey Ave Light Rail station makes it a fairly easy commute too. Until next time.
