The Plank Pizza Co. Beer Parlor

There’s no doubt about the craft beer scene’s immense popularity over the past few years. It’s so hard to go back to those watered down mega brands once you’ve savored a rich complex beer. Okay, maybe not that hard…but I’m all about a great beer!

There are a few bars in the area offering a decent selection of craft beers, but there could always be more. So I was super excited when I heard about The Plank Pizza Co. Beer Parlor opening up nearby. It’s like a small beer garden gastropub that offers a constant rotation of craft beers and serves solid housemade grub. Perfect.

Only one other table was occupied when we arrived. A few more people sat at the communal table later on. They even changed one of the few TVs to the Devils game without hesitation. Nice! They change their beer offerings fairly often so the handles are just numbered. There are 4 flat-screen TVs above listing what’s available. You can check out their Facebook page to see what’s on tap.

There were the familiar few on the beer menu. I’m usually looking for a good IPA, but decided on a Saison this time. Of course, I tried an IPA next. Nice and bitter.

We had to try some of the food. They’re well-know for their appetizers and pizza. The menu is short and simple offering food that just goes really well with your hoppy beverage.

Their tater tots are pretty awesome. They were nice clumps of shredded potatoes perfectly fried and crispy. They were served with pickled jalapenos for a nice kick and a creamy queso sauce.

The Perfect Bite

We tried a couple of their signature sourdough flatbread pizzas as well. The BBQ Pulled Pork had seasoned slow-cooked pulled pork, caramelized onion, and Cheddar and Jack cheese. Not as much flavor as I was expecting, but not bad at all.

The other one was The French Onion and Pepper. It had creamy Alfredo sauce, green bell peppers, crispy fried onions, and Mozzarella cheese. I liked it. I couldn’t argue with the combination of Alfredo sauce, crispy onions, and cheese.

I really liked this place. It’s nearby and their selection of beer is enough for me to keep coming back. It did take a bit for a server to come by and it was not busy at all, but no big deal. I’d like to try some of their other foods as well…or just order those tater tots again!
