The Franklin Bar

After dinner, we headed to The Franklin Bar for a few more cocktails before heading back to the hotel. The man outside asked if we wanted to go upstairs or downstairs. They’re different, but I wasn’t sure. We said upstairs and he led us inside. It was a more casual bar with a few tables and most of the people standing around the bar drinking beers and classic drinks. Okay, I guess I actually wanted to go downstairs. He went to check if there was a table and brought us downstairs and we were seated at a small booth. It was more of a speakeasy vibe with dim lightning and music playing. This is what I wanted.

Dowstairs

They handed us a cocktail menu and a more elaborate cocktail book with their famous signature cocktails and tasting flights. The tasting menu sounded great, but I was so full from dinner. I just wanted to try a couple cocktails tonight.

The Menu

I ordered the Joy Spring – cachaca, white rum, Nigori sake, Amaretto, banana, maple, lemon juice, and egg white. It was a pleasure to sip on. A solid cocktail with that frothy egg white top.

The other cocktail I tried was a rum-based drink with lemon, mint, and other flavors. I don’t remember the name of it unfortunately. It was nice and refreshing.

We were not here for very long, but I enjoyed the cocktails and ambiance of The Franklin Bar. It’s fairly easy to miss with no sign outside, but keep an eye out for the man standing  outside and head downstairs for their signature cocktails.
