Muay Thai at Bangla Boxing Stadium

I’m a big fan of MMA and really wanted to watch muay thai while we were in Thailand. We had a free night in Phuket and one of the most famous stadiums was located in Patong. My sister decided to buy tickets as a belated birthday gift. I was super excited! The Bangla Boxing Stadium typically holds fights on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday nights.  The stadium is part of the eccentric Tiger Complex. Show your ticket and head up the stairs.

Tiger Complex

You’ll actually hear the promotion truck driving around the streets of Patong all day and night. We couldn’t escape it!

Bangla Boxing Stadium

Fights start around 9pm. There are three different seating areas – the VIP area on the floor right next to the ring (2,500 baht), the ringside seats on the first level (2,000 baht), and the stadium seats on the top floor (1,700 baht). I believe for the best value and view, go with the stadium seats.

Stadium Seating

Ticket can be ordered for face value on the site, but if you stop at one of the many ticket and tourist booths scattered around Patong beach, you’ll be able to buy discounted tickets. The first guy we asked said there was no discount, so we tried another booth and bought a couple stadium seats for 1,500 baht each. If at first you don’t succeed, try again.

Awesome Birthday Gift!

The stadium is nothing fancy. You won’t find any air conditioning, but it was still comfortable on this warm night. The seats are long benches like the ones you find at a high school football game or out in the bleachers. There was a guy walking around taking bets and your drink orders.

There happen to be a Filipino fighter on the card. Represent! We had to root for him, but unfortunately he lost.

Filipino Fighter

We actually had a group of fighters from Phuket Top Team sitting right behind us rooting for their fellow teammates.

It was really cool to see how each fighter entered the ring and prepared for the fight. They all had their own pre-fight ritual.

Batman Wins!

This was a great experience and we had such a fun time. Thanks, Vicki! The fights were good and the majority of them ended by knockout. If you want an enjoyable authentic muay thai experience with good fighters, head to Bangla Boxing Stadium. Buy a discounted stadium seat, order a cold beer, and enjoy!
