Breakfast at 24 Diner

It was my last day in Austin and I had just enough time to squeeze in one last meal before heading to the airport. This was the perfect opportunity to check out 24 Diner for a breakfast cocktail and some farm-to-table comfort food.

Last Day in Austin

I was kindly shown to a table and looked over the menu. It included a nice selection of hashes, frittatas, waffles, and breakfast classics like eggs Benedict and French toast. It all sounded really good. There’s also a full bar serving wine, brunch cocktails, and signature cocktails. One mimosa, please!

Breakfast

I love a good hash and their hashes are made with house-cut Idaho Burbank potatoes, onions, jalapeños, two runny eggs, and your choice of toast. I ordered the 24 Hash which adds cheddar, bacon, and sausage to the mix.

24 Hash

The hash was great, nice and hearty. I appreciated the perfectly diced potatoes mixed with the yummy bits of onions, sausage, and bacon.

Bacon, Sausage, Cheddar

There’s no doubt that the hash is a filling dish, but I couldn’t leave without trying their famous Chicken & Waffle. The waffles are made from yeast-risen dough with butter, raw sugar, and Madagascar vanilla. It’s topped with marinated boneless fried chicken, brown sugar butter, and light amber Michigan maple syrup. You can choose white or dark meat. I went with dark. The chicken was super juicy and tender and went perfectly with the slightly sweet waffle. Delicious!

Chicken & Waffle

Breakfast at 24 Diner was an excellent way to conclude my time in Austin. Service was prompt and friendly, and the dishes were tasty. It was almost time to catch my flight. I hope to see you again soon, Austin!
