Shibuya Nights

My sister and I left Asakusa and headed to Shibuya for dinner. Shibuya is a major commercial and business center. It’s a popular entertainment and shopping area near one of the busiest railways in the world, Shibuya Station.

It’s also where you’ll be able to walk along the famous Shibuya Crossing. It’s one of the busiest pedestrian crossings in the world with up to 2,500 people crossing every time the signal changes.

With so many people coming from different directions, it was orderly and people were polite. I must have crossed it a dozen times and never bumped into anybody!

One of the best-known stories involving this bustling neighborhood is the story of Hachiko, an Akita dog who waited for his late master outside Shibuya Station every day for 9 years. He became a national celebrity for his loyalty.

The statue was built adjacent to the station and is now the most popular meeting point in the area.

It was time for a sushi fix. It was along one of the many side streets that we found the unique sushi restaurant.
