Unique Eats: Uobei Sushi

We walked around Shibuya for a bit and now it was time for a sushi fix! I used Google maps to find the restaurant.

Located in one of the narrow side streets was Uobei Genki Sushi. I always thought this place looked really cool and was excited to finally try it.

There was a wait so we took a seat at the u-shaped couch. It didn’t take long at all before we were given our numbers.

Sushi Fix

Uoebi is considered a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, but it’s a bit different. Every seat is numbered. Find your station and take a seat.

You use touch screens to place your order. Your order is sent directly to you with a small “sushi train” holding up to 3 plates. You send it back to the kitchen with a tap on the touch screen.

I couldn’t believe how reasonable the prices were. Most plates with 2 pieces of sushi only cost around $1!

Plate Stack

You can check the order record screen that lists every plate and the price. You can request the check at any time and pay at the front counter. It was easy and convenient.

Prices were great and the sushi was good. It’s not the best, but you really can’t beat the value. Plus, it was such a fun and unique dining experience.
