Dinner at The Factory Kitchen

After enjoying a Devils win at Staples Center, we looked for a place for dinner. I briefly researched some places near our apartment and The Factory Kitchen looked really good, so off we went!

The trattoria-style restaurant in a reclaimed factory space turns out traditional Italian fare and handmade pastas in the heart of Downtown LA’s Arts District. When we walked in, the place was packed and we didn’t have a reservation. Luckily, two seats opened up at the bar just in time.

After taking a seat at the bar, I knew I wanted to get a cocktail. The Thyme To Go had thyme-infused Plymouth gin, green chartreuse, rhubarb bitters, orange and proseco.

Everything on the menu sounded great. We decided to share a couple pastas and a couple other dishes. I really wanted to try their Mandilli di Seta. The thin handkerchief egg pasta was covered with a creamy ligurian almond basil pesto. Simply amazing!

The other pasta we ordered was the Casonzei which was egg pasta filled with veal, sausage, beef, and cured pork with brown butter, sage, and Grana Padano – a hard, slow-ripened cheese similar to Parmigiano Reggiano. Another fabulous pasta creation!

My friend also wanted to try the Porchetta. It’s always nice to dine with friends who also love to eat and try different dishes! The mouthwatering crispy tender roasted pork belly had aromatic herbs, braised fennel, carrots, red onions, and celery. It was incredible!

We also decided to order one of their housemade focaccias. We went with the Fiori & Funghi which had crescenza, pioppini mushrooms, zucchini blossoms, ligurian olive oil, and Italian parsley. Freshly made and hot out of the oven, it was divine.

To say that we enjoyed our dinner at The Factory Kitchen is an understatement. It was absolutely phenomenal! The service was enthusiastic, cocktails were great, and the food was wonderful. It was time to walk around the block for our distillery tour!
