I really need to go to the awesome museums NYC has to offer more often. My sister wanted to check out the Museum of Modern Art one afternoon. Sounds good to me. After browsing the unique and funky exhibits, we decided to have lunch at Cafe 2. Located on the second floor, the cafe offers an array of fresh and seasonal Italian foods including panini, handmade pastas, salumi, artisanal cheeses, soups, salads, and desserts.
We shared a plate of three meats and cheese. We tried the prosciutto, finocchiona, spicy sopressata, and parmesan. It was served with crispy flatbread drizzled with olive oil and a variety of olives.
I also tried the prosciutto cotto panini – sliced ham with mozzarella, arugula, and hot mustard. My sister tried the Mac & Cheese as well. They were all pretty good.
Our lunch was decent and I’m glad we tried Cafe 2. If you really want to grab a quick bite before or after wandering the museum, grab a seat at one of the communal tables and give it a try. It’s open to Museum visitors only and enjoyed on a first-come, first-served basis.
