I went to Noches de Colombia in Englewood with coworkers one Friday after work. One of my coworkers and her husband are regulars…I can see why. It was a night filled with yummy food and lots of sangria. The casual restaurant serves generous portions of tasty Colombian fare in a lively environment.
The Englewood location use to be BYOB, but now has a full bar.
We shared a few appetizers of chicharron, mini beef empanadas, and the amazing Colombian cheese bread, Pandebono. They have a bakery on site where you can grab dessert, bread, and empanadas to go. Yes, order extra cheese bread to take home.
The portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. Entrees come with a choice of two sides. I am always tempted to order something new, but I love their breaded fried flounder. I usually finish about half and pack the rest for another time.
They have a couple dessert dishes. The Tres Leches is a sponge cake soaked in three kinds of milk – condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy milk, can’t go wrong with that. They also have Flan – a custard that mixes mild coffee flavors with silky sweet egg.
I’ve come back to this location a few more times with my parents and friends. You can enjoy many of their dishes with a creamy wine sauce.
My mom was a huge fan of the whole fried fish with yellow rice and plantains.
Noches has multiple locations throughout New Jersey and a couple in New York. I’ve been to the Clifton location a few times as well since it’s a bit closer than the Englewood location.
This place will forever remain a top option when I’m in the mood for Colombian food. The large plates of food, baked goods and sangria are all fantastic. Salud!
