Hello, Barcelona! I was so excited to begin my trip to Spain in Barcelona. I was able to grab a taxi from the airport which dropped me off on the bustling street of Las Ramblas near the hotel I was staying.
I checked in to my hotel and settled down for a bit. It was lunch time and the city was super lively with people walking around and enjoying the nice weather. I was fairly close to Viena, a small cafe that became famous for their Iberico ham sandwiches.
On the menu, I spotted the famous ham sandwich that was featured on The New York Times. Writer Mark Bittman claimed it was “the best sandwich I’ve ever had.”
I also ordered a beer from the porcelain tap. It was cold and refreshing.
I came here for one particular sandwich, so I sat down at the counter, enjoyed a few sips of beer, then the sandwich was placed in front of me – a few thin slices of Iberico ham with tomato spread on a crusty baguette.
The sandwich was very simple and pretty tasty. Was it one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had? Not too sure about that, but it definitely hit the spot!
