The following morning I had a tour of the city with BrightSide Tours. I was really looking forward to this tour. This wasn’t a typical walking tour or a tour where a car or shuttle drives you from place to place, this was a private tour where you get to cruise around the city in a classic sidecar motorcycle! Awesome!
My guide for the day was Joao, who is also the owner. It was cloudy and drizzling, but he assured me that it would eventually clear up soon enough. He handed me a helmet and went over a few things, then I hopped into the sidecar and we were on our way!
The helmets had a microphone and were connected so we could hear eachother. I could clearly hear him explain all the sights and the history of this amazing city.
We rode around for a bit and passed by a couple sights before making our way to our first stop – Park Guell.
We stopped by and admired Casa Vicens. The modernist building is considered Gaudi’s first important work. It has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2005. Sometime in Fall 2017, the 130-year-old structure is scheduled to open to the public for the first time ever as a museum.
We continued to cruise around and people were waving and taking pictures of us. We rode through the narrow alleyways of various neighborhoods.

Time was flying by and we stopped by a small bakery for one of the best croissants I’ve ever had! I didn’t want this day to end, I was having such a great time.
It was time for the tour to end and Joao offered to drop me off wherever I’d like. The sidecar tour was amazing! It was way beyond my expectations. If you’re in Barcelona, I highly suggest you book this unique tour for a fabulous introduction to the city! Joao was nice and easygoing. He was an incredible guide. He gave me so many great recommendations for restaurants and bars in the city. This was such a cool experience!
