One weekend morning, we decided to try Juany’s Cafe & Grill in Fair Lawn. In addition to the breakfast items, salads, burgers, and sandwiches, they also serve various Latin American dishes and specialties.

One of the weekend brunch specials was the Shakshuka. The Middle-Eastern dish was made with a Latin twist. It’s a sweet and spicy tomato sauce with harissa (chili pepper paste), crumbled queso fresco, a couple eggs, all served with pita bread on the side. It was something different and very good.

The Mexican breakfast platter had eggs, black beans, chorizo, corn tortillas, pico de gallo, tasty chorizo sausage, and grilled queso fresco.

I enjoyed the Chilaquiles Verde – fried tortilla chips covered in green tomatillo salsa and topped with two fried eggs, queso fresco, onions, and crema.

We had a nice Mother’s Day brunch here as well. Again, the food was a hit. Each entree was $19.99 and came with a fruit bowl, coffee and complimentary hibiscus mimosa. Good stuff!

My mom ordered the Huevos Rancheros which had black angus tri-tip tenderloin with a side of two corn tortillas topped with salsa verde, crumbled queso fresco, fresh avocado, Mexican crema, spicy black beans, and two over easy eggs.

I ordered the Breakfast Tacos. Three corn tortillas were filled with chorizo, eggs, cheese, avocado, and pico de gallo.

The tacos typically come with a side of black beans, but I went with the sweet potato fries instead. Yum.

The grilled salmon over house salad was fantastic. The salmon was so soft and tender.
