I still had the whole day ahead of me to wander around Burlington. I made my way to Juniper Bar and Restaurant located within Hotel Vermont to decompress a bit with a cocktail and snack.
After 3pm, you’ll find Juniper Bar’s selection of small plates and custom cocktails made with local spirits. I took a seat at the bar and ordered the In the Flowers, made with Hotel Vermont gin, lemon, Pimms, strawberry, and Alice & the Magician lemon basil.
While sipping on my fabulous cocktail, I snacked on a small bowl of their Sea Salt Maple Nuts. A perfect crunchy, salty, and sweet combination to go with any drink.
Even for a meal, I always prefer to grab a seat at the bar whenever possible.
My cocktail of choice was the Sage of Innocence. It had sake, vodka, sage, and strawberry. Cheers!
You can watch all the action happening in the open kitchen and I couldn’t help but check out all the other tasty looking dishes being brought out.
The Mac & Cheese Pancakes were legit. Talk about taking comfort food to a whole ‘nother level! They had a nice cheesy outer crisp on them. They were delicious with that sweet and spicy habanero maple syrup drizzled on top.
I finally decided to go with the “Banh Mi” Pork Patties for my main.
The Maple Wind Farm pork was served over rice and topped with mixed greens and a hoisin mayo. Good stuff.
After dinner, I hung out at my hotel for a bit. It was Saturday night and I headed back out to check out some of Burlington’s nightlife offerings.
I couldn’t resist stopping by Club Metronome for their Retronome night where they play music from the 80s, 90, and 2000s. Yes! It’s located above Nectar’s.
While walking along Main Street, one of the bars had a DJ and whole bunch of people dancing and having a good time. Of course I had to go in! That place turned out to be SideBar.
I tried the beloved Heady Topper brewed by Alchemist Beer in Stowe, Vermont.
I met some really cool people that I hung out with for the rest of the night.
I definitely did a good amount during my first day in Burlington trying a couple great restaurants and bars. I had a blast Saturday night bar hopping, dancing, and meeting some awesome locals. Thank you!
