It was my final full day in Burlington and I wanted to make the most of it. I walked towards Lake Street along the Burlington Waterfront for breakfast at The Skinny Pancake. There was a line out the door, but it was moving along.
You order at the counter, take a number, and find a seat.
I went with the Noah’s Ark which came with two eggs any style, a couple pieces of bacon or sausage, and frumpled cinnamon sugar sweet crepes with a side of Vermont maple syrup.
It was good and the sweet crepes with syrup was a nice change from the usual pancakes or waffles. The only thing is that it took a while for the food to come out. I was sitting near the bar for around 45 minutes and it seemed like others that sat after me got their food before me, so not sure what happened there. Did my crepes need extra frumples?
I also ordered a side of the Hash Browns made with spiced local potatoes that were shredded and fried a crispy golden brown.
Breakfast was pretty good and I was ready to check out other places. I took a little stroll along the waterfront.
It was a beautiful day and everybody was out and about.
I loved the Coke machine that gave you a free Coke in exchange for a hug.
There were so many great breweries in town, I had to stop by one more. Foam Brewers was nearby overlooking the waterfront.
The brewery was started in 2016 by a group of industry professionals with a shared appreciation for brewing, science, art, music, and culture.
They offer a rotating selection of beers that vary based upon the season and current inspiration.
I really enjoyed the two I tried – the Vivrant Thing and Experimental Jet Set Double IPA.
Thanks to a really cool local I had the chance to go to a couple other spots. We stopped by Citizen Cider for some hard ciders.
I don’t usually drink hard cider, so it was only fitting that I tried as many as possible with their flight offerings.
You can choose up to 5 different ciders.
All of them were fantastic. I especially liked the Jam On infused with organic raspberries and the Dirty Mayor infused with ginger and lemon peel.
After enjoying some beer and hard cider, it was time for some wine. Had to keep it going! We took a short 20-minute ride to Shelburne to check out Shelburne Vineyard.
Opened in 2008, the LEED-designed winery surrounded by Marquette vines welcomes visitors seven days a week.
There’s over 17 acres of grapes, mostly the super hardy Minnesota hybrids, with a small planting of Riesling and Vidal Blanc.
We headed inside and stood near the wine bar to sip on some wine.
For only $8 per person, you can do a wine tasting that includes all wines that are currently available.
You also get to keep the souvenir wine glass.
You’re encouraged to rate each wine using the laminated cards and a washable marker.
After trying all the wines, we ordered a glass of our favorite to enjoy outside while we wandered around the vineyard.
What a great day! I had such a nice time trying the local brews, cider, and wine on a lovely Summer day. It was time to head back to the hotel and get ready for a much-anticipated dinner reservation.
