After a wonderful day of sailing, I went to The Farmhouse Tap & Grill for a bite to eat. The farm-to-table gastropub is known for their innovative entrees, award-winning burgers, and craft beer menu.
The restaurant was closing in less than two hours and it was packed. The bar was full, but I was able to walk in and get a table.
I knew they had some great craft brews to offer, but I consumed so much beer during the day that I just wanted a nice glass of wine.
The waiter was nowhere to be found for a little while, but he eventually came by and I ordered away. I started off with a half dozen raw oysters.
They were cool, sweet, and refreshing.
I couldn’t resist trying one of their burgers. I ordered the LaPlatte River Angus Farm Beef burger. A simple, but tasty cheeseburger with cheddar, arugula, and pickled red onions.
I also ordered a side of the Crispy Onions Rings served with a horseradish aioli. Yum.
The burger comes with either hand cut fries or a salad. I had to go with the fries. They’re served with housemade condiments.
The food was good and the burger, wine, and onion rings really hit the spot. Service was okay and I finished my dinner a few minutes before closing. It was a jam-packed day full of cool breweries, great beers and a beautiful sunset sail. It looked like some relaxation was in order for the rest of the night and I went back to the hotel. Goodnight.
