Almost forgot to post pics from my dinner at Butcher & the Boar in downtown Minneapolis. After a nice afternoon at Target Field, I went to the bustling restaurant that serves American craft food, beer, and bourbon. It offers a meat-focused menu and a beer garden.
I was seated at small table just past the entrance and near the bar where people were waiting for their tables.
I started off with a refreshing gin cocktail.
The menu had steaks, pork chops, duck, and various sausages, along with some sharable plates, seafood and sides. Everything is sourced from local farms and premium purveyors.
I really enjoyed the extra crispy Fulton Beer-Battered Fries. Deep-fried and a bit heavy? Yes, but still good. They were served with spicy ketchup and a ranch dipping sauce.
It’s all about the meat here. I tried the enormous Smoked Beef Long Rib for my main.
The meat was tender and pulled off the bone with a fork. The Tabasco Molasses gave it quite the kick. I like spicy, but it was actually wayyy too spicy for me. I couldn’t eat more than a few bites.
Dessert was tempting, but I wasn’t in the mood for anything sweet that night. I appreciated the picture on the dessert menu though.
Dinner was okay. The cocktails and fries were good, but the beef rib was too spicy. I wouldn’t mind coming back to try something else though.
