Tucked away in a street-art-lined alley known as The Belt, you’ll find The Standby.
The culturally redefined alley is in the heart of downtown Detroit and named for its physical orientation in a former downtown garment district.
Public Art is the driving force behind the redevelopment of The Belt. It’s home to murals and installations by local, national and international artists.
I thought this was the coolest location for a bar. The Standby offers a menu full of creative cocktails and features a few original creations by mixologists from well-known bars around the country.
These aren’t your ordinary libations. The bar is equipped with a cocktail lab equipped with a centrifuge, liquid nitrogen, and all types of advanced culinary tools.
My first drink was the Snake in the Grass made with Citadelle gin, lime, simple syrup, celery bitters, and nitro-muddled mustard greens. Cheers!
They can also customize a drink to your liking.
I stayed for a few drinks and enjoyed every single one of them. I liked the dimly lit room and easy-going vibe. I was ready to get some rest and walked back to my hotel. I am loving Detroit!
