After a fascinating guided tour of Bonaventure Cemetery, I took an Uber to Cotton & Rye for dinner. The New American restaurant offers gastropub fare and an all-American bar turning out some great whiskey cocktails.
The place was packed and I was lucky enough to get a seat the end of the counter near the kitchen. For a drink, I went with Old Blue Eyes made with Jack Daniels whiskey, simple syrup, and walnut bitters. Cheers!
I started off with their Award Winning Crispy Chicken Wings with spicy honey, sumac, and chipotle morita. The wings were super crispy and so tender with a bit of a kick. Incredible!
For my main, I had the Piggy Pappardelle. The perfectly cooked pasta had chunks of braised pork shoulder, parsley, and a flavorful sauce of mushrooms, shallots, mustard, sour cream, and parmesan.
After my delicious dinner, I went back downtown and stopped by The Jinx for a couple drinks and an entertaining burlesque drag show. There was also a DJ at the City Market and everybody was out dancing and having a good time. It was another wonderful day in Savannah!
