My time in Savannah was coming to an end. My flight home wasn’t for another few hours, so I decided to check out a few more places. I had lunch near the Savannah River at Vic’s on the River. The restaurant occupies a former warehouse space and serves Southern classics.
I sat at small table inside the bright dining room and my meal started off with a couple warm buttery biscuits and soft butter. Yummm. IÂ wanted to try Chef Kerry’s She Crab Soup. All those calories from the delicious creamy rich soup with crab roe and crabmeat was well worth it!
My lunch entree was the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. I didn’t feel right leaving the south without some fried chicken. The tender chicken breast is marinated in seasoned buttermilk then fried a crispy golden brown. It was served with mashed potatoes, haricot verts (green beans), and pink peppercorn gravy.
Lunch at Vic’s was delicious and the service was great. Afterwards I walked over to Broughton Street to browse the Savannah Bee Company. Their specialty honey comes in a variety of flavors. There were samples too. They also sell beauty products made with treasured honeybee hive ingredients like beeswax, royal jelly, propolis, and of course honey.
I still had another hour to spare before heading to the airport, so I stopped by World of Beer next door. With over 60 beers on tap and over 500 beers available, it was the perfect spot to unwind for a bit.
After a couple brews, I walked back to the hotel to pick up my luggage and made my way to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. My flight ended up getting delayed for a while, but I eventually made it back home to Jersey. I had such a wonderful time in lovely Savannah! Thank you!
