It was time for another trip to Las Vegas! I went a couple years earlier to celebrate my 30th birthday, and this time I went to celebrate 311 Day and see the Devils play the Vegas Golden Knights during their inaugural season at the new T-Mobile Arena. Off to Vegas!
I stayed at the MGM Grand since it was close to the Park Theater and T-Mobile Arena. After checking in, I walked out to the strip and made my way to the Mandarin Oriental to have brunch at MOzen Bistro.
The nice bright restaurant with a relaxed ambiance serves a variety of Asian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They offer a weekend brunch that features specialty items from 12pm-2:30pm every Saturday and Sunday.
I sipped on a Strawberry Mimosa for a bit, then ordered the Bento Box Brunch which comes with sushi, crispy calamari with chili garlic sauce, a char siu bao (barbecue pork-filled bun), and your choice of an entree for $39. I went with the Alaskan Halibut with a pistachio and pine nut crust and fresh herbs “vichyssoiseâ€.
Every element of the bento box was good, especially the crispy and tender calamari. There was one other menu item I couldn’t pass up and that was the Green Tea Waffles. I love me some green tea! The matcha-infused waffles were served with maple syrup, lychee compote, and passion fruit crème. Oh man, they were amazing!
Brunch at MOzen Bistro was fantastic and the service was great. Afterwards, I walked over to the Monte Carlo to pick up my VIP tickets for 311’s concerts for later that night and the following night! It was going to be an epic weekend!
