After an incredibly cool tour of A Christmas Story House, I decided to go to Melt Bar and Grilled in Lakewood for lunch. The casual restaurant serves gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and comfort food.
I took a seat at the bar. The menu offers some classic favorites and they’re always adding new items. They also have a solid selection of beer. I went with the good ol’ Monte Cristo which had honey ham, smoked turkey, Swiss and American cheeses. The entire sandwich is battered and deep-fried then topped with powered sugar and served with berry preserves for dipping. Because why not? 😉
The deep-fried sandwich was hot and crispy. A pleasant mix of savory, sweet, and deep-fried goodness. The house-fried potatoes were not so good. They definitely weren’t fried fresh. They were cold, stale, and tasted like old oil.
I did my best with the sandwich and ate a little more than half. It was not the lightest lunch, but pretty tasty.
I also wanted to explore Cleveland’s craft beer scene. It was time to check out some breweries!
