Boardwalk Bar & Grill

Ah, the Jersey Shore. I enjoy going “down the shore” as much as possible during the summer. Unfortunately I don’t go enough. When I have a free weekend or have a day off from work, I shoot straight down that parkway to one of the usual spots. I’ve been going to Point Pleasant lately and always look forward to laying on the beach, good food, and cold drinks.

I made my way to the Boardwalk Bar & Grill. It’s centrally located on Jenkinson’s boardwalk. Tables on the second floor offer a view of the boardwalk and beach. It’s a casual spot for pizza, seafood, burgers, and cocktails.

I enjoyed a couple cocktails including the Brazilian Strawberry Mojito. It was slightly sweet and minty. It was okay, nothing special. I’m just glad it was served cold.

I also ordered half a dozen oysters. Again, they were okay. They were served with a small cup of cocktail sauce and lemon wedges.

The crab sliders were pretty bland and almost all filler. The fries were luke warm. I really wasn’t expecting anything spectacular, I just wanted to eat something before laying on the beach.

The food here is very simple. The drinks are straight forward. It’s an okay spot for drinks and a quick bite and it happens to be located in a prime area. Just don’t expect too much. After lunch, it was time to find a spot on the beach.

The beach can get very crowded, especially on weekends. I didn’t mind.

After a few hours under the sun, I was ready for a couple more cold drinks. I made my way to Martell’s Tiki Bar. This causal beach-side bar is where many beach goers enjoy frozen drinks while listening to live music. They check ID’s at the door and there’s a cover charge. They offer a food menu with seafood options, but it’s a bit pricey for what you get.

I like the Tiki Bar. It can be an interesting crowd of people, but it’s always a fun vibe. The margaritas are served cold and they usually have a live band performing. Hooray for day drinking!
