It was game day! After lunch in Adams Morgan, I made my way towards Chinatown to check out a couple bars before heading to the nearby arena. Come to this area and you’ll spot the iconic Friendship Arch.
The first stop was Jackpot, a small simple bar located down a flight of stairs.
I ordered up an IPA and a small basket of popcorn was given to snack on.
The next stop was the Iron Horse Tap Room. They had a decent selection of craft beers and bourbon. I went downstairs where you’ll find a second bar along with games such as Shuffleboard and Skee-Ball. It was a relief to find a few Devils fans hanging out and hollering at fellow fans. Away games are so much fun!
After a bit, it was time to head to Verizon Center.
I walked around for a bit, then looked for a bite to eat.
The one food stand that caught my attention was The Bone by the Heritage Brewing Company. They offered a small simple menu of a couple barbecue sandwiches and craft beers.
I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich that came with a side of coleslaw and cornbread.
It seemed like the best option in the arena. I dressed it with extra barbecue sauce and headed back to my seat.
The pulled pork was good and surprisingly moist.
A pulled pork sandwich, a craft beer, and a seat at center ice. I’m set!
It was a good game. The Devils scored first, but the Caps would tie it soon after. That seemed to be the way it went the entire game. Back and forth, the devils would fall to the Capitals 4-3. Oh well. It was still a great time and I really liked Verizon Center. Being a short train ride away, I would like to come back for another game! There are lots of great bars and restaurants in the area too.
