Bangkok’s Rooftop Bars

It was our last night in Bangkok before heading to Chiang Mai in the morning. I’ve heard great things about the rooftop bars around the city and that they should not be missed. The weather was perfect and we got ready to enjoy a few cocktails at a couple of the top rated places.

Top of the Marriott

We Ubered our way to the Bangkok Marriott Hotel on Sukhumvit Road where the Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar is located. After taking the elevator all the way up, there are a couple more flights of stairs to reach the open bar at the very top of the hotel.

Octave Bar

The blue bar in the center was glowing bright and there were a few standing tables around it. It was a nice set up because the bar was not crowded with people, everybody has a table where your orders are brought to you. I highly suggest getting there early or making a reservation for a larger group.

The View

A table on the edge near the glass was available. What a view!

I ordered one of their specialty drinks and my sister enjoyed a tasty mocktail. The drinks were good. Prices are a bit more expensive here compared to what we’ve been spending the prior nights, but you’re paying for quality drinks with a fantastic view.

Standing Tables

After a couple cocktails at Octave, we were off to the second rooftop bar – the Vertigo & Moon Bar at the Banyan Tree Hotel. There was a wait and we were given a number, so we decided to eat something at the restaurant on the main floor and returned a little while later.

Moon Bar

The large rooftop terrace had a bunch of dining tables to enjoy the restaurant’s seafood and steak dishes. Reservations are encouraged. Moon Bar is on one side of the terrace up a small flight of stairs. It was much more packed than Octave. Great views too, but a bit more difficult to order a drink. We preferred the setup of Octave better.

We took a few moments to appreciate the stunning cityscape of Bangkok from above.

Overlooking the City

If you’re in Bangkok, be sure to go to at least one rooftop bar for solid cocktails and amazing views of the city.
