I’ve been so busy catching up on things, I totally forgot to post my fantastic birthday dinner at Babbo! I headed to the city with my mom for dinner and a show. I finally got to see The Book of Mormon and finally tried the pasta tasting menu at Mario Batali’s popular Italian restaurant.
We had reservations, but still had to wait for around minutes. No biggie. There’s hardly any space to wait though. We were seated at the booth near the door as soon as it was ready.
It was a special occasion, so we had to try the pasta tasting menu! I also decided to do the wine pairing. Why not? The dinner began with a complimentary plate of chickpea bruschetta.
With my first glass of wine ready, the tasting began with the Black Tagliatelle with Peas and Castelmagno. It was incredible!
My mom and I both agreed that each pasta dish was delicious. Portions were just right. The pasta was cooked perfectly as well.
It was time to move onto dessert which was paired with a sweeter wine.
The desserts were yummy. I really enjoyed the olive oil cake with gelato.
The tasting menu listed the vanilla panna cotta as the second dessert, but it was substituted with a warm apple tart. No complaints.
An array of sugar was brought out for my mom’s coffee. Very nice.
Dinner ended with a few small cookies and biscotti. I’m so glad I finally dined here. The food was great. The service was okay and could have been better. The restaurant was very busy and the bar area was crowded and loud, but that didn’t deter us from enjoying our pasta tasting.
