There are plenty of great Portuguese and Spanish restaurants in the North Ironbound neighborhood of Newark. One of our favorite places to enjoy a seafood dinner would have to be Seabra’s Marisqueira. I’ve been there a few times now and it’s always a satisfying dinner.
Dinner at Seabra’s
The dining room is small with a few long communal tables. There’s also a large bar in the front near the entrance. You can make a reservation ahead of time and park in one of the two parking lots located on the same street.

There are plenty of traditional seafood dishes to choose from. We like to enjoy them with a pitcher of their tasty red sangria as well, available in half or full pitchers.

If you’re in the mood for all types of seafood, you can’t go wrong with the Frutos do Mar. The huge platter is a combination of clams casino, shrimp in garlic sauce, shrimp and veggie shish kebab, broiled lobster, mussels in a zesty red sauce, clams in garlic sauce and stuffed oysters. It serves up to 4 people and comes with a side of rice and potato chips. Good stuff!

Chocolate Mousse
This is one place we wouldn’t mind coming to over and over again. It’s one of the best values for seafood. The place is always packed with a lively atmosphere. The service is prompt and good. It’s definitely one of our favorite spots in Newark.
