After a couple days in Memphis, it was time to head to Nashville! I took the 4-hour bus ride with Greyhound. It was a comfortable ride and it didn’t feel very long at all. Once we arrived at the station, I grabbed an Uber and headed to my hotel. The Hilton Nashville Downtown is an all-suites hotel located in the heart of downtown Nashville.
My suite was nice, clean, and spacious. But the best thing about this hotel was the location. You are in the middle of everything! Bridgestone Arena is right next door, the Country Music Hall of Fame is across the street, and all the honkey tonks and bars along lower Broadway are right behind you. Awesome!
It was warm and the sun was shining bright. I walked around Broadway for a bit. Everybody was out enjoying the beautiful day.
For lunch, I heard some great things about Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant which was closeby. The rustic Southern grill and bar goes back to the ’50s and serves authentic Southern fare and comfort food classics.
I grabbed a seat at the bar and cooled down with a local IPA served in a mason jar.
I tried Puckett’s Brisket Nachos. The fresh tortilla chips were covered with chunks of brisket, black beans, house cheese sauce, pico de gallo, jalapenos, some sour cream, and a BBQ drizzle.
I couldn’t resist trying one of their desserts. The Cobbler of the Day was blueberry and it was delicious. The homemade cobbler was served warm and topped with a big scoop of Hattie’s vanilla ice cream.
After lunch, I took a stroll along Broadway for a couple drinks and live music. The music can be heard from everywhere. Now I’m not really into country music, but the passion of these bands and singers and the energy in the rooms made for some good times.
I decided to check out Legends Corner for a bit. I had a cold beer, listened to some great music, and enjoyed some people watching.
A big stage was being set up for musical performances and events for Games 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. Being a huge hockey fan, I was so excited to be in town during this time. I wasn’t even sure how the Predators would do, but it worked out perfectly!
It was a nice afternoon getting to know downtown Nashville for a bit. It was time to head back to my hotel and get ready for dinner and a nice night out.
