It was a gorgeous Sunday morning and I wanted to try one of the most popular breakfast joints in town, Penny Cluse Cafe.
You can expect a wait on most days. A couple parties in front of me were told at least an hour wait. Being by myself, I told the hostess that a seat the counter would be fine. I only waited about 15 minutes for a seat to open up.
A small board listed the daily specials. For beverages, they had Watermelon Agua Fresca. It was so good and very refreshing.
A couple dishes on the menu were tempting, but I ended up going with another special on the board and one of my breakfast usuals, the Corned Beef Hash.
The hash was good. It was extra chunky with potatoes, onions, corned beef, and carrots. A little more corned beef would have made it great and I could have done without the carrots.
I really enjoyed the homemade biscuits. They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served with fresh strawberry jam. Maybe try them smothered in their herb cream gravy as well.
The Penny Cluse Cafe offered a nice hearty breakfast with friendly service. I had the whole day ahead of me – time to check out some breweries!
