After our fantastic vegan cooking class, my sister and I took the subway to the lively district of Akihabara. Known as Tokyo’s “Electric Town”, it will fulfill all your electronic and gadget needs. It’s also known for stores that specialize in Japanese anime (animation), manga (Japanese comics), video games, collectibles, computers, and toys.
It’s the cultural center for otaku – young fans obsessed with anime and manga.
There were a couple streets lined with capsule toy vending machines. They were my weakness throughout my time in Japan.
Akihabara is also famous for its maid cafes and animal cafes. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to hang out with some cute animals.
This neighborhood is a gamer’s paradise. There are many stores selling retro video games and consoles.
You’ll also find huge multilevel arcades here.
We saw a food court on our way to the station and I stopped by a yakitori store for a snack.
Those cute animal cafe pictures are up next!
