It was my last day in Kyoto and I decided to take the short trip to Arashiyama. Located in the outskirts of western Kyoto, it has temples, shrines, old-style shops, Sogenchi Garden, wooden bridges, and the famous Bamboo Forest. Arashiyama is a nationally designated Historic Site and Place of Scenic Beauty.
There are plenty of shops, food vendors, and restaurants along the streets of Arashiyama as well. I enjoyed yuba (bean curd skin) and cheese on a stick and cute lemon honey cakes.
After checking out a couple temples and gorgeous gardens, I made my way to Arashiyama’s famed Bamboo Forest.
