The Conquistador at Zunzi’s

After brunch and a couple art museums, I walked around downtown Savannah for a bit before stopping by a popular lunch spot.

I always like to ask people about their favorite dishes and places to eat, and many people mentioned  Zunzi’s Takeout & Catering. When I arrived there was a small line out the door.

The small counter-serve eatery serves South African inspired hearty meals. The menu is influenced by the rich South African, Swiss, Italian, and Dutch heritage of founders, Johnny and Gabriella Debeer.

The menu offers sandwiches, pita wraps, salads, rice bowls, tasty spreads, beer and wine. They even have South African tea. Everything sounded really good. So what did everybody tell me to try? It was all about The Conquistador! I ordered it and brought it back to my hotel to enjoy.

The popular sandwich had fabulous soft crunchy French bread generously filled with tender chicken, romaine lettuce, parmesan and super tasty Shit Yea sauce and Zunzi’s dressing. The sandwich was delicious! I should have bought those sauces! I also enjoyed a bag of Zapp’s kettle potato chips with it. It was the perfect lunch.

The sandwich was probably big enough for 2 people, but I had no problem devouring the whole thing myself. Thanks, Zunzi’s!

Afterwards, I relaxed at the hotel’s rooftop pool for a bit. I made a dinner reservation for later that night.
