I had a couple more days in Cleveland and it was time to go out for another brunch. I went to The Plum the previous day and decided to go to Fire Food & Drink for their weekend brunch. Located in historic Shaker Square, the modern-style restaurant creates globally inspired dishes using locally sourced ingredients.
The open kitchen is the focal point of the restaurant and the counter gives you a great view of it. I always try to sit at the kitchen or chef’s counter whenever I can.
It’s never too early for a drink. I had the Corpse Reviver #2 made with Plymouth gin, Cointreau, Lillet Blanc, and fresh lemon juice. Sunday funday!
There were a couple dishes I wanted to try, so I did! The Lemon Soufflé Pancakes were yummy. The moist fluffy pancakes had a nice balance of sweet and tart. They were topped with blueberry compote and whipped butter.
And since I’m a sucker for hash, I had to try the Local Beef Smoked Pastrami Hash with chunks of smoked pastrami, Yukon potatoes, and Gruyère cheese baked together in a dish and topped with apple, arugula, pickled red onion, honey dijon aioli, and a fried egg. It was flavorful and cheesy.
Brunch at Fire Food & Drink was great and I loved watching the kitchen. It was almost time for the ballgame!
