It was my final morning in Gothenburg and IÂ finally had a chance to check out Hotel Bellora’s lovely breakfast buffet.
After breakfast, I made my way to Gothenburg Central Station to catch the 3-hour train to Stockholm!
My hotel wasn’t very far from Stockholm’s Central Station. Victory Hotel was a really cute nautical-themed boutique hotel in Gamla Stan – Stockholm’s charming Old Town. It’s filled with a unique private collection of maritime antiques. The historic 4-star property has been hosting guests since 1640.
The Captain’s Single Room was super cozy, but had everything I needed. The bathroom had a nice shower, underfloor heating, a hair dryer, toiletries, and a bathrobe.
The location was near plenty of restaurants, bars, and attractions. For lunch, I stopped by Barrels Burgers & Beer. I ordered a beer and tried a seasonal cheeseburger with mushrooms and a side of their rustic French fries. It was really good. The beef comes from Swedish farms, the buns are freshly baked, and the organic cheddar is local too.
After lunch, I walked around Gamla Stan for a bit and saw some nice shops, churches, the Royal Place, the iconic cobblestone public square of Stortorget, and the narrowest street in Stockholm.
I loved staying in the heart of Old Town!
I Stopped by Cafe Järntorget for something sweet – a Belgian waffle topped with whipped cream and chocolate.
Later that night I decided to hang out at Stampen, a world famous jazz and R&B bar filled with antiques and a 17th-century cellar bar. They host live jazz and blues acts nightly.
The place was really cool and there was a nice mix of people. The music was awesome.
It was a fabulous first day in Stockholm. I couldn’t wait to see more of it over the next couple days.
