Sushi-San and Star of Siam

My third day in Chicago started off with lunch at Sushi-San. If I’m craving a particular kind of food, there’s a good chance it’s Japanese cuisine. It was close to my hotel and the menu was enticing.

I sat down at the long sushi bar and ordered a Yuzu Lemonade.

I wanted to try a couple things in addition to some sushi. I wasn’t expecting all the food to come out at the same time, but it was all good. I tried the Togarashi Chicken Nuggets served with a lime kosho aioli. I’m pretty fond of chicken nuggets in general, so the breading with Japanese mixed chili seasoning was an added bonus.

I also wanted to try the Japanese Eggplant listed under the Tempura section. A couple fried dishes may have been a heavy choice, but I enjoyed it.

I had to have a sushi fix as well. I went with the D-Luxe Sushi 12 Pcs.

The tuna belly, salmon, uni, ikura, snapper – it was all very good. I would have liked 12 different pieces instead of 6 pairs, so it was a bit much with the other dishes.

Lunch at Sushi-San was great and it’s definitely a spot I would return to whenever I’m back in Chicago. I have to try their fluffy pancake dessert next time!

Later that night I had one of the coolest dining experiences ever, but I’m gonna fast forward to the following day and show you a few pics of my Thai meal at Star of Siam.

Located a block away from my downtown hotel in River North, the restaurant was cute inside with floor seating. I ordered the Chicken Satay and Beef Pad See Ew. They were pretty good and just what I needed after a late night.
