One of the best things to do in a new city is to enjoy it like a local. Withlocals made doing just that easy and convenient with connecting you with local guides for various tours and experiences. So when I was in Taipei, I booked the Best of Taipei: Highlights and Hidden Gems tour one afternoon. My local guide was Cola.
Cola was super sweet and full of interesting information about the city. Our first stop was Lungshan Temple, one of the oldest temples in Taiwan.
We walked through alleyways and various neighborhoods.
I had a chance to try a pepper bun from a local vendor and I even enjoyed an iced beverage made with rice and soy milks.
Our next stop was Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall where I watched the Changing of the Guards.
Cola took me to one of her favorite spots for bubble tea. I enjoyed an iced oolong milk tea.
It was such a nice afternoon with Cola. This was a great way to see a few of Taipei’s most popular sights and Cola made it even more special with her knowledge and sweet personality. The tour is also very flexible, so you can always let the guides know what you would like to see and what you have no interest in seeing.
Our tour came to an end, but it was almost dinner time and the original location of one of the most famous Taiwanese restaurants was nearby, so I was happy to invite my lovely guide to join me for a meal. Pics of our dinner will be posted next!
