Breakfast at Steel Vintage Bikes Cafe

My first night in Berlin was fairly quiet after partaking in a scrumptious schnitzel meal. The following day was much more eventful with a sightseeing and food tour with a local. But first I had to grab a bite to eat!

Just a few blocks away from my Mitte hotel was the Steel Vintage Bikes Cafe. A shop that’s known for their quality handmade steel bikes provides a tables to sit down, relax, and eat while showcasing their rare and unique collection of bicycles. Whether you’re a cycling fan or not, it’s a great spot for lunch, a mid-day snack, or breakfast which is served all day.

I took a seat at one of the stools at the counter along the window. I ordered a glass of freshly pressed Orange Juice.

I thought some organic Green Tea was needed as well.

After going over the menu, I decided to order Maple-Glazed Bacon Pancakes. The two savory pancakes came with scrambled eggs and maple syrup on the side.

The sweet and salty combo of bacon-topped pancakes with a drizzle of maple syrup hit the spot! The scrambled eggs, cooked more on the well done side, were still very good and completed the classic breakfast plate.

Breakfast at Steel Vintage Bikes Cafe gets two thumbs up. The place had a cool laidback vibe and service was super friendly. The lunch menu looked good too.

I still had time before meeting my local guide, so I walked a few more blocks to one of the most famous coffee houses in Berlin to officially end breakfast with an iconic baked good.

I went to Cafe Einstein Unter den Linden for one thing and one thing only – the homemade Apple Strudel (apfelstrudel). The layers of flaky pastry filled with warm apple filling was covered in powdered sugar and served with vanilla sauce.

I’m glad I made a pit stop at the well-known cafe to try the tasty Austrian specialty which can be found all around the city. After a few satisfying bites, I was good to go and walked back to my hotel. My local guide would be coming by soon. I was ready to explore Berlin!
